NEWS: The Wellspring has announced its decision to formally withdraw from NationStates Gameplay. In a public statement released on 10 May 2025, the region outlined a series of legislative and administrative steps aimed at transitioning away from interregional politics and military engagement, with a renewed focus on internal community and culture.
Established in May 2023 during the rollout of the Frontier and Strongholds update, The Wellspring was the first and only frontier to receive new nation spawns within the first 24 hours of the feature’s launch. Since that time, the region has transitioned to stronghold status twice and experienced both external attacks and the support of allied regions.
According to the statement, recent developments beginning earlier this year have led regional leadership to conclude that returning to frontier s tatus would require a significant shift in approach. The Wellspring emphasised that it does not seek to be a major actor in Gameplay but instead wishes to prioritise internal cohesion, culture and community activity.
In the statement Well-Sprung Jack, the region's Governor & WA Delegage, said: 'The Wellspring no longer has a place in Gameplay, and that we no longer want a place in Gameplay. Instead, we want to be a place where our community, culture, and internal activity are at the forefront of what we do and how we interact with NationStates.'
As part of its withdrawal, The Wellspring has announced it will take the following actions:
-
Withdrawal from FOCUS: The region will exit the FOCUS Treaty (Frontier Organizaton of Cooperation, Unity and Security. The withdrawal will take effect ten days from the announcement.
-
Dissolution of the Blossom Order: The region’s military force, the Blossom Order, will be abolished. The name will be retained for use as an internal award for endorsing and active residents.
-
Embassy Realignments: Gameplay regions that currently maintain embassies with The Wellspring will be invited to close them if they no longer wish to be associated with the region. The Wellspring expressed a desire for such partings to be amicable.
The statement also noted that further measures may be implemented as needed to complete the transition.
The region concluded its announcement by expressing appreciation for the Gameplay community while reaffirming its decision to step away from that sphere.
